AAPBS Case Workshop 2023 at Held APU
Organized by the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) Case Center, the two-day AAPBS Case Teaching and Writing Workshop was successfully held at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) in Japan from July 28-29, 2023. The AAPBS Case Center has been hosted by the Thompson Center for Business Case Studies at HKUST since its inception, and in such capacity, the Center has been organizing case workshops annually in collaboration with different AAPBS member schools to promote case teaching and writing in the Asia Pacific region.
This year, the workshop was facilitated by Professor Michael CHEN, Advisor at the Thompson Center and Adjunct Professor of the Department of Management at HKUST. The workshop discussed the in-depth case and teaching note-writing processes and addressed many of the issues in teaching cases effectively. Around 30 faculty members from various business schools in Japan, China, Thailand, and Korea attended the workshop, which was well received for the thorough analysis of the case development cycle and experience sharing by Prof. Chen, as well as the engaging discussion on case teaching among participants.
"The AAPBS Case Workshop is a signature event of the AAPBS Case Center, promoting case teaching, writing and research. We are thrilled to resume the event in person after three years," said Professor Winnie PENG, Director of the Thompson Center, in her opening remarks. Making a long-awaited return to face-to-face format since the pandemic, the Center looks forward to continuing knowledge sharing and collaboration in case writing and teaching among business schools and faculty members in the region.
